Wave‐climate asymmetry influence on delta evolution and river dynamics

چکیده

On wave-influenced river deltas, wave-driven sediment redistribution affects progradation, and therefore avulsions, while avulsions change where is delivered to the coastline, affecting coastline shape. Coastline shape, in turn, rates patterns. Here we use a numerical model investigate how asymmetry of wave climates delta avulsion behaviors, which are coupled with shape evolution. Increasing wave-climate tends reduce (increase) curvature updrift (downdrift) flanks, by increasing (decreasing) local shoreline diffusivity. In our experiments, reduced restricts possible post-avulsion mouth locations, increased expands downdrift favoring “downdrift avulsions.” However, under some climates, diffusivity on flank can become negative, leading convexity accretion, inhibiting avulsions. heights decreasing superelevation threshold for both tend morphologic asymmetry, tendency.

Ecological and Toxicological Conditions in the Delta Volga River

The decrease in the level of industrial production and the significant reduction of highly toxic substances used in the agriculture of the Volga region in the last decade did not maintain the expected decrease of pollution level in the Volga water. Concentration of many polluting substances in water continues to remain high. Among the numerous polluting substances in the Volga River two groups ...

Modeling river delta formation.

A model to simulate the time evolution of river delta formation process is presented. It is based on the continuity equation for water and sediment flow and a phenomenological sedimentation/erosion law. Different delta types are reproduced by using different parameters and erosion rules. The structures of the calculated patterns are analyzed in space and time and compared with real data pattern...

Evolution and selection of river networks: statics, dynamics, and complexity.

Moving from the exact result that drainage network configurations minimizing total energy dissipation are stationary solutions of the general equation describing landscape evolution, we review the static properties and the dynamic origins of the scale-invariant structure of optimal river patterns. Optimal channel networks (OCNs) are feasible optimal configurations of a spanning network mimickin...

The Influence of Horizontal Velocity on Inter-Lower-Limbs Local and Global Asymmetry during Walking

Purpose: Considering the influence of horizontal velocity on many biomechanical characteristics of walking, the purpose of this study was to investigate how inter-lower-limbs local and global asymmetry is influenced by changes in walking speed from slow to fast. Methods: Ground reaction force data and trajectory of attached markers of bilateral lower limbs of 15 right leg-dominant able-bodied ...

Detection of the Three Gorges Dam influence on the Changjiang (Yangtze River) submerged delta

While most large river-deltas in the world are facing the risk of subsidence and erosion in the Anthropocene, it is suspected that the Changjiang submerged delta (CSD) could be subjected to the impacts of the world's largest dam, the Three Gorges Dam (TGD). Here we firstly indicate that the CSD went through high accumulation (1958-1978); slight accumulation (1978-1997), slight erosion (1997-200...
